How to Turn Off The Honeybook Verification Code Request

Is the Honeybook verification code necessary?

Every Honeybook file is set to request a verification code from your client before they can look at it. In MY opinion, this can cause a significant delay in getting booked and paid, turning a two-step process into a three or four-step ordeal. It’s more of an obstacle than a security necessity. Luckily, you can turn it off. I made a video (above) to show you how, but let’s break it down.

Start with the Template

My first rule, always: Change the template you always use, not the individual file in your client’s project. Not forgetting to do it is easier when you don’t have to remember.

Desktop: Click the Cog

Click the cog that’s on the far top right of the file, between the palette and the three vertical dots. This will open up your “Configure Settings” page.

  • Scroll down to Security and file access.

  • Unclick Request a verification code from clients when they sign or make a payment.

  • Confirm.

If you make this change in the file template, it will affect the file universally, whether on desktop or in the mobile app. BUT if you only do this in a file attached to a project, it will only affect that individual file.

What else is on the Configure Settings page?

Definitely take a look around, you can:

  • Change the file name

  • Choose a thumbnail picture for it

  • Redirect the client to a URL after they complete the file

  • Set an expiration date for the file

Turning it off in the Honeybook App

If you do need to turn off the verification request in the app - an impromptu request for a file or invoice you haven’t fixed yet - the process is a little different:

  • Open the file

  • Click “Use” on the top right of the file

  • Choose what project you’re using it for

  • Scroll down to the bottom of the file and click on the three vertical dots

  • Scroll down to Security and file access.

  • Unclick Request a verification code from clients when they sign or make a payment.

  • Confirm.

Again, this will only affect the individual project file, so be sure to update the template when you return to your computer.
