Best of 2023

The Best of 2023

Here’s my Best of 2023 - the best tools I used and shared this year. I say this every year, but what a year, right? I feel like 2023 was a recovery year and also one where we looked for new alternatives to old tools.

Let’s Start with the Shopping.

I feel like 2023 was a recovery year and also one where we looked for new alternatives to old tools. For me, that included physical tools, too, and shopping for the ones that provide, as my father-in-law says, “good value for dollar.” This is the year I stepped away from online shopping and stayed closer to home.

Best Buy Open Items

I needed a new Macbook this year, and since Best Buy is closer to home than the Apple Store - and less crowded - I dropped by Best Buy to scope out the new models…and ran into the Open Box table—same warranty, as new condition, $500+ less. I kind of went crazy on the open box table this year - you’ll see below

Target

Target has been a great place to get backup accessories like mouses (mice?) adapters and cords to put in my tech travel bags and backpack. I keep a set of the Heyday earbuds in my car, so I never have to worry about having headphones if I go out. Is the sound as good as Airpods? Of course not, but they’re pretty good and a tenth of the cost.

Honeybook Lead Forms

The big game changer for Honeybook this year and for photographers and creatives that offer “buy now” items—one link for your customers to schedule and buy your products. And I even figured out how to add a short contract to the form. Totally my favorite thing set up for clients this year.

The Honeybook Hack I got asked about a LOT

Adding Taxes and service charges on your smart files. For example, here in California we can’t charge tax on services, but we can on products, and although credit card fees are illegal, you can add additional service charges. This video shows you how to do that.

See a video for how to ask for payment by Zelle or Venmo here. Bascially? Put a text box on the payment page that gives them your handles, and tell them to pay before they sign the contract.
